Another Day of Hopeful Progress!

Posted on August 22, 2024November 10, 2025 by Seth

Will make this easy because caffeine hasn’t hit, yet. I’ll list what I have on my plate, and what I’ve done so far to temporarily resolve them.

Issues yesterday:

  • my PC is in Pawn ($345 to get out) and was due on the 22nd.
  • Tommie (my 4 month old cat) is still at the house
  • Rent will be due on Sunday ($115)
  • Gig work is crap (averaging $20 a day at best)
  • Car insurance is due on the 28th ($75)
  • Phone is due on the 3rd ($45)
  • I need gas for my car.

I put $20 on my PC and it is now comfortable at the pawn shop until 10/4.

My friendo at the pawn shop has a friend who fosters cats. Might have room for Tommie. I offered to help out once a week in exchange for the temporary safe harbor. She’s checking into it.

Rent – if I get a job, they’ll most likely let me pay for the combined weekly rent when I get my first check.

I’ll keep doing gig work as long as it is offering decent jobs.

I’m going to keep cleaning on the old house until we get enough to cover car insurance. I can also get my load of laundry done while cleaning today.

My phone is far enough away that I can work toward it. I should have enough to cover it once 9/3 gets here.

Gas always seems to happen, regardless what I’m doing.

I did set up a GoFundMe just in case. Unfortunately, it forces me to use my born name, but whatever.

If things really did get that bad, I considered putting this laptop that I’m writing from in pawn, but I need something to do, and this cheap ol’ thing is what I use to write on, so I want to keep it. It’d be a desperation move.

It looks like, right now, I need to focus on time management with all this. Maximizing time used for income gained. I can’t sit and worry. I need to make moves. The place that listed me as excellent hasn’t called back yet, but the place that I used to work asked me to be there at 1pm today. So I have between now and about 12:30 to get up and dressed and go work on grandma’s house project.

Speaking of writing, I’ve been looking at all my works in progress, and I really wish my grandiose ideas could be turned into smaller pieces. I need the satisfaction of finishing something. I could do some character origin stories to achieve that…maybe. For example, my AO3 is bare save for some (as usual) unfinished Mass Effect Works. But from Mass Effect, I have a detailed list of notes about Marley Shepard’s life. I also have Cael Cloverdale from Elder Scrolls Online with similarly detailed notes. His could both be short or long-form, depending on how I choose to go about it. Or…a series of short-forms that could read long-form over time.

I miss Elder Scrolls. I just might pick on Cael.
