Greetings from Bed!

Posted on September 27, 2024November 10, 2025 by Seth

It’s 12:38am, and I’m getting ready to get some shut-eye. I did go to the market and replenish my food supplies – packaged meats like smoked salmon, flavored tuna (sesame ginger and tomato basil are my favorites), and plain chicken breasts. Along with that, a loaf of sourdough bread, more high-protein oatmeal, and a variety of snack crackers. I also snagged two jars of peanuts (one salted, one honey-roasted) and a box of knock-off Cheez-Its (because they were 1/5th the price of the brand name).

I also got a melamine bowl and flatware set so I can be a true hermit. 👍 The rice and ramen are left over from my previous shopping trip, and I did eat the ramen with a can of chicken mixed in.

Oh…I also bought a big plastic storage container for all of it, just in case a hoard of rats is waiting to come sample the goods. While I didn’t find any rat-sized holes anywhere (or mouse-sized, for that matter) I felt it’d be better safe than not.

The excellent news is that all of what I purchased barely hit $35, which, after rent, my car’s registration, and the $10 it cost to top off my tank, I had waaaaaay more than I anticipated. So I splurged on a few packs of Magic the Gathering Cards. What great joy to pull a mythic rare Karlach foil!! She’s tucked safely into a top-loader so she won’t take any environmental damage any time soon. But check her out:

Not gonna lie, that was one of the main cards I wanted to get. The rest of the main cast for sure, but I also picked up Gale’s Reflecting Pool and one of Wyll’s special action cards. The whole set is gorgeous so far, and between Battle for Baldur’s Gate and the adorable Bloomburrow, I’ll have plenty of DIY short story scenarios for days to come.

I attended the group meeting, tonight, and realized I was struggling with eye-contact. I made a color chart about my sensory issues so that it’s easier for me to understand what part of my autism is taking the lead each day, and apparently today was purple – don’t want to talk to, don’t want to acknowledge, and don’t want to look at people. I did anyway, of course, but it was definitely purple. Most of my days are green – green days are where my audio sensory issues act up, and the noise is so bad that I can’t deal with basic math. On those days, every little sound is on the same level (max) so I can’t hear anything specific. It’s especially problematic when trying to hear people tell me things. So like, the firetruck five blocks away is just as loud as the air conditioner overhead, which is just as loud as the music playing in the background. Too loud, can’t do math.

Anyway, I skipped the AA meeting so I could rest, and added a bit more to my story. Worked out pathways and potential altercation points, as well as named some external characters that had no name, previously.

I also progressed further in Echoes. My, that game looks so much like Eve Online. It’s super nostalgic in that sense.

(Me in my Tristan in combat near a mining facility.)

Not much else to add. I’m really checking in just to make sure I’m not too tired tonight when I get home from the meeting, since I’m going there straight from work. Almost at my goal of one post a day for the whole month!!

Stay blessed, everyone! ☀️🙌💛
