No Sleep Til…

Posted on May 2, 2024November 10, 2025 by Seth

Fun fact: withdrawing from benzodiazepines causes insomnia. Wouldn’t recommend. You’re welcome.

Ever since I stopped partaking of things that make me hot and undignified, I’ve been unable to sleep consecutive hours. I’m very pleased that my brain decided to bypass the “depressive mania” stage that I’ve heard horror stories about. Even my anxiety seems to be better. But this lack of sleep is a force to be reckoned with. And hunger…have mercy, I feel like my stomach is a bottomless pit, and even when I am stuffed, I just want more. I assume a deficiency is causing it, but I haven’t done any research.

Meanwhile, yesterday, I was to attend the monthly PFLAG meeting, where I intended to put my name in the hat as a volunteer for the next gathering, but we had a tornado or three, and so I missed it.

We’d had some kind of cloudy weather over the last couple of days, but around 4:30 or so, a tornado touched down between here and Anson (I live in Abilene), and two more formed and dissipated immediately due to the incredibly high winds.

I went to the gas station to check on a friend who works there, and when I got there, we witnessed a funnel cloud, which freaked both of us out. He locked up and hid in the bathroom, and I got some pics. Priorities, you know. (also, he’s not from Texas — most Texans go outside and watch until the bad weather is right on top of us). I went back to my house, which is a mile and a half down the road, and watched it go by. I didn’t even get rain from it. But I did get some good shots.

Aside from that, nothing really going on. I’m still working through my fourth step, and I am thinking about how much of it I want to actually share here. Hopefully I’ll get my sleep schedule back soon, too.
