So I changed my writing style for the new ABCs series that I’m working on over on the main journal, and I do not like it at all. I was trying to write more…professionally. Think like a narrator talking about the benefits of a vitamin or an actual leadership guru talking to an organizational team. But as I wrote it, the writing felt tasteless. Like there was no palatability to it whatsoever. When I read it just now, it felt devoid of emotion, I felt non-reflective (that was the intention, all things considered), and I just didn’t feel the depth of punch that I normally have in my works. I know I can write better when I write from a reflective or expository sort of way, so I might revisit it later. But it just makes me feel icky that it felt as bland as it did.
Oh well. I guess it goes to show that if it doesn’t feel good to write, then it’s going to feel even less good to read. I might revisit it later. Strongly might revisit it later.
